We have all been hard at work updating registrations, schedules, and race formats for 2011.  The website is being updated as I speak (thanks Chuck!).  Registration is now open for all races on active.com and will also be available on our website soon.  Our last post touched on rule changes for 2011--and can be reviewed at this blog. This post is to remind you about upcoming races and to discuss our race prices.

2BD-Two Below Duo-Registration is still open for this two day stage race in Warren, PA on January 22-23.  Snow will be plentiful so you can expect some great winter action in what is one of our favorite events.  Stage 1 will take place on Saturday and will be a duathlon with 11 snowy miles of mountain biking and 5 miles of running.  Last year some teams found great success with studded snow tires--some were store bought and some homemade.  One racer just brought to our attention a link for an idea for using zip ties as "chains"  for your tires.  Looks like a great idea--if you have disc brakes!  Stage 2 will be a night time orienteering course covering approximately 6 miles of foot travel on Saturday night. This stage will conclude with a roaring bonfire and some racer supplied libations.  Don't forget your headlamps, compasses, and favorite beverages.   Stage 3 will take place on Sunday with the infamous 2BD Biathlon.  This stage will see racers running a total of 6 miles while stopping four times to shoot at clay pigeons (shotguns will be provided).  For each "miss" racers will complete one penalty lap.  This stage will conclude with an awards banquet and party.  Registration is available for teams of two for $120.00.  Solos can race for $75, and relay teams of six can race for $180.00.  Go to our website now to register!

2011 GRASS-Grass Roots Adventure Sprint Series-Registration is now open for the 2011 GRASS.  This series will include four races starting in April with the SORCAR and concluding in October with ever challenging HVAC.  This year the series is open to teams of two as well as solos.  Register by the 15th of February for only $250 per team of two, or $170 per solo.  Do the math--that's only $30-40 per race per racer!  Go to the website now for more information and to register.

Individual races-This year all Grass Roots races will be open to teams of two as well as solo racers.  This year's schedule will include four sprint races:

SORCAR April 16th

TURFF May 21st

MAD July 9th

HVAC SF October 15th

All of which can be entered individually, or as a series.

Also included in this year's schedule is the WAR which can be completed as a 12 hour or 24 hour race:

WAR 12/24 August 27-28th

Early registration for the sprint races is only $65 per team of two, or $40 per solo.  Registration is now open for all races and can be completed currently at active.com by searching Grass Roots, or will be available shortly on our website--where you will find active.com links and mail-in registration forms on all of the individual race pages.
